In forests across the American West, the mountain pine beetle has overtaken countless pine trees. Coupled with damaged pine from forest fires, the mountainsides are riddled with fatally wounded trees. Local lumber mills are clearing the forests of these fallen pines, making room for new growth. Black Hound Design Company is bringing this new kind of wood – Blue Stain Pine - to homes and restaurants across the country. 

 

Blue Stain’s naturally occurring blue and silver streaks redefine how we see and experience classic American pine.

 

The Allison Street Collection is inspired by the beautiful simplicity of the Blue Stain Pine that we work with every day, and the contagious energy of our Denver workshop. Combining modern lines and colors with a hint of a retro vibe, the Allison Street Collection captures a feeling of Western Mid-Century Modern. Our pieces will gain character over time as they interact with their home, and will age beautifully and uniquely.

 

Black Hound envisions furniture that brings people together, creating a space to share stories and build friendship. Using tried-and-true artisan techniques, we create each piece by hand to make this vision a reality. It’s impossible to step inside the workshop without being humbled by the skill and the passion of the Black Hound team.
